More than 1 million downloads of our educational apps.

What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started your company?

Failure is just part of the process – nothing to be afraid of. You can’t appreciate small victories till you have failed.

What’s a hypothesis that you’ve had that has failed? And how did you respond?

That google play sales would grow with more users. It shrunk. Then, we thought google play for education will be the ticket. It was not. We had to look elsewhere for sales growth. We responded by adding other markets – Amazon – which is growing very well. We’ve started adding education partners – some that are helping to bring our apps to schools – Kids Place (kiddoware), Learn Pad and others are in progress.

What’s your favorite startup in your city? (Besides your own!):

Liquid Planner. Met Liz once. Very much admire her enthusiasm, and the company she has built. Rare to meet women CEOs in tech running funded companies.

What’s your favorite thing about being an entrepreneur?

Creative Freedom. Building stuff. Learning from customers.

What’s your favorite local sports team?

Does Seattle have a hiking team?

If your company were an animal, what would it be and why?

A monkey – ‘cos it loves to eat fractional pieces of pies, and equally divided jellybeans.

If you were to take your company on a date, where would it want to go?

We would go for a picnic with bouncy castles and giant slides.
