What does Gatheredtable do?
We’re an online consumer software service that generates customized weekly menus for busy households. This is a life-changing offering that:
• solves an age-old challenge in a unique way
• leverages technology to gather people together
• integrates live with grocery and farm delivery
• operates through patent-pending algorithms and databases
What’s your traction been like thus far?
We had a very successful beta test last Fall, began our soft launch in March, and are preparing to release nationally in July. We’ve had amazing feedback from people that has helped us to improve the user experience. We have hundreds of people coming to our website seeking to sign up, and we’re really excited for everyone to be able to use our product!
Are you hiring? If so, for what?
We are always looking for great new talent to join our growing team. Email greatpeople@gatheredtable.com with a resume and CV if interested.
In particular we’re looking for folks in: software development, QA, technical project management, and marketing/digital customer acquisition.
What do you know now that you wish you knew when you started your company?
When we started we were an LLC – then we had to go through a lot of effort to convert to a C Corporation. I wish I had more fully understood the choices, and that it’s very rare for a high tech, high growth company to be an LLC.
What’s a hypothesis that you’ve had that has failed? And how did you respond?
Ok, our original product design had an active feedback loop to customers – basically emails saying “hey, we can’t get you the perfect menu yet, here’s a few suggestions for you to approve.” I thought it would be awesome. Customers hated it – too much email, too much work, they want us to just solve the problem for them and take the work off their plates – no pun intended 🙂
What’s your favorite startup in your city? (Besides your own!):
iWitness. It’s a great personal safety app.
What’s your favorite thing about being an entrepreneur?
Creating positive change in the world. Our mission is to foster more homemade meals – which makes people healthier and happier. It’s incredible when we hear from customers that we’ve enabled them to achieve their aspiration of cooking from scratch more frequently and easily.
What’s your favorite local sports team?
That’s a tie.
I LOVE the Sounders. I played varsity soccer in college and really appreciate Seattle’s unique soccer culture. It’s the closest thing to a European soccer culture in America.
I had the good fortune to attend the Superbowl game and watch the Hawks in all their glory, so now it’s got to be a tie.
If your company were an animal, what would it be and why?
Labradoodle. My family has one and it’s a crossbreed developed to garner the intelligence of poodles and the sweetness of Labradors. gatheredtable is an intelligent algorithm enabling sweet moments of cooking, eating, and connection to happen.
If you were to take your company on a date, where would it want to go?
Sitka & Spruce, it’s charming, unpretentious, simple, accessible, and the food is divine. (and Matt Dillon is a hero)
