What is Filelize?
Filelize was created on the premise that people want to stay connected to the work that matters most; they shouldn’t have to think about clicking the right boxes to ensure files are in the cloud.
From the start, Filelize saves files to Dropbox, OneDrive, Box or Google Drive accounts. We automatically save your most recent work, from wherever they are opened, to your favorite cloud storage provider each time you touch it, allowing you to access that fresh content on any device, when you need it most. Beyond the initial installation, that’s it. You’re done.
Ultimately, users want to know that the work they are doing is available to them when they need it most, and they don’t want to have to think about it. It should just be there.
What’s your traction been like thus far?
We recently just launched the product.
What do you know now that you wish you would have known when you started Filelize?
Many entrepreneurs think their ideas are great, get some people to believe in it and go forward. Now, I realize that some of the best advice was from people that weren’t friends/mentors, but people that could tell me what they really thought of the idea and how to make it better. They were not worrying about hurting feelings and instead, speaking from experiences.
What’s a hypothesis that you’ve had that has failed? And how did you respond?
When starting the company, we believed users wanted things to be easy to setup and get running; no settings, no alerts, just automatic. We learned along the way that they still wanted to customize preferences and certain settings, so we built ways to set preferences for the top requested settings into the product.

What’s your favorite thing about being an entrepreneur?
It’s amazing how many great ideas are generated every day, but very few become a reality. As an entrepreneur you can make those ideas a reality.

If your company were an animal, what would it be and why?
As a startup, it would be a cheetah, not the biggest, but no fear of our larger competitors and the agility to make quick decisions and out execute them
As a mature company, we would evolve to be a lion. Still quick and agile, but with a commanding presence among our peers.
If you were to take your company on a date, where would it want to go? Why?
A cool activity like hot air balloon ride, or rides at a theme park. Live in the moment.
